Bank of Cyprus Australia becomes an APMP Friend of Peacekeeping - 18 February 2010

The APMP is delighted to announce that the Bank of Cyprus Australia has donated $5000 to the Australian Peacekeeping Memorial. In the presence of the High Commissioner for the Republic of Cyprus, H.E. Mr Yannis Iacouvou, the Managing Director of the Bank, Mr George Tacitos, presented the cheque to the Chairman of the APMP in Sydney on 18th February. Others present at the donation were Mr Con Pavlou and Mr Kerry Varnarvas from the Maroubra Branch and Mr Denis Percy from the APMP Committee.

“All Australian Peacekeepers, military, civilian and police, past and present, will be delighted that the Bank of Cyprus has made this significant donation to the Australian Peacekeeping Memorial Project.  The Bank of Cyprus is now awarded the status of being an APMP “Friend of Peacekeeping ”, said Tim Ford.

While discussing the progress of the project Mr Tacticos told attendees he hoped more Corporations and individuals pledged their support to this important national project.

“Bank of Cyprus Australia fully supports this project, the message it conveys and the values it aims to pass on to future generations”, said Mr Tacticos

During the handover, the High Commissioner for Cyprus and The Managing Director of the Cyprus Bank Australia both expressed their gratitude to all Australian Peacekeepers, noting that an Australian police contingent had been doing a magnificent task as Blue berets in Cyprus with UNFICYP since 1964.
