Governor-General's Function - 2 October 2009
The Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce, AC, the APMP Patron-in-Chief hosted a function at Government House Canberra. The purpose of the function was to meet representatives of the organisations that she and her husband are involved as Patrons.
Her Excellency welcomed about 60 guests and made the point that we all were very valuable to the fabric of Australian Society and that the Not For Profit hours we all put in is highly commended.
Matt Burke represented the APMP in the absence of Tim Ford.
Matt spoke briefly to Her Excellency, and she said "I want to thank the APMP for the very kind gift of a Peacekeeper Bear given to me. He is very cute and is uptstairs in my room". Her Excellency went on to advise us that she is prepared to assist the APMP in any way possible to raise the $4M needed to complete the Memorial.
When asked if she would be prepared to do an advert with PK Bear, she said "I'd be delighted to assist in any way with the 'Bear' to help fundraise.".
