AFP Commissioner, Michael Keelty briefs the APMPC - 17 January 2007
During the first meeting of the APMPC for 2007, Australian Federal Police Commissioner Michael Keelty, APM and Patron to the APMP, was briefed on the work done to date to make the Peacekeeping Memorial a reality. Commisioner Keelty congratulated the Committee on its efforts so far and provided guidance following his involvement with the recently opened National Police Memorial. He also gave the AFP's full support towards the project.

The Chair provided an overview of the APMP current business plan, background and the Memorial’s purpose. Elements of the overview included; administration aspects (Web site, Constitution, Incorporation, Marketing and Fundraising sub-committee etc) and endorsement by the major support organisations of the Peacekeepers, eg APPVA, ADF, AFP, the RSL etc.
In addition to the briefing by Commissioner Keelty, a sub-committe has been created to focus on the marketing aspects for the project. A number of new people have been appointed to this sub-committee, they are; COL Mark Elliot, LTCOL Rob Barnes and LEUT (N) Barbara Butler.
The next meeting of the APMPC is scheduled for Wed, 14 March after which will be the AGM for the Committee.
