APMP Membership and Media Launch - 13 September 2006
The APMP held its membership launch at the Australian War Memorial on Wednesday. The launch was attended by members of the APMP Committee including patrons Lieutenant General (Retired) John Sanderson, AC and Geraldine Doogue, AO. Also present were the Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Mr Bruce Billson, M.P., the Shadow Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Mr Alan Griffin, M.P., plus representatives from the Australian Defence Force, Australian Police Services, the Australian War Memorial and Ex-Service Organisations.
The event was officiated by the APMP Vice Chairman, Mr Matt Burke, OAM in the absence of the Chairman, Major General (Retired) Tim Ford, AO. During the event, Mr Burke was presented a cheque for $200,000 from Mr Billson, on behalf the Department of Veterans' Affairs as the first donation towards the construction of the memorial.
