Major Fred McArdle is the National Office Manager for the Australian Peacekeeping Memorial Project Committee. Following 38 years as an officer in the Royal Australian Signals Corps he transferred to the Active Army Reserve to allow more flexibility in pursuing community engagement projects.

During his career he has directly contributed to the support of ADF peacekeeping operations through postings as: the Manager of the Defence Communications Centre Canberra; the HQADF 24/7 Watch Commander; and as a Service Conditions desk officer during the East Timor crisis. A highlight of his community engagement work was to be inaugurated as the first Chairman for the NSW Safety House Program.
